The year 2022 will be marked by a slew of automobile milestones. While BMW commemorates the 50th anniversary of its M Division, AMG, Mercedes-famed Benz's performance arm, is commemorating its 55th birthday in Affalterbach.

In March, AMG launched the G63 Edition 55 to commemorate the milestone, promising "more birthday surprises in the coming months." The A35 and CLA35 Edition 55 have arrived, which is the newest surprise.

Mercedes has bestowed a variety of style-enhancing add-ons to the current special edition, similar to the G-Wagon. AMG Aerodynamics Package includes a sporty front apron with a larger front splitter, AMG wing, and Blade diffuser, among other features, all of which are painted in black.

The AMG Night Package and AMG Night Package II, on the other hand, lend a sense of threat to the entire design. The side sill trims, window garnishing, grille, and badging are all finished in a high-gloss black for an unobtrusive yet athletic aesthetic. Cosmos Black Metallic or Digital White Metallic paint schemes are available on Edition 55 vehicles. Special graphics with the typical AMG symbol and rhombus may be found on the sides of the A35 and CLA35 AMG variants.

The stylish 19-inch AMG multi-spoke light-alloy wheels have a one-of-a-kind finish, with a matt titanium grey surface complemented by a high-sheen rim flange. The Edition 55 treatment extends to the gasoline filler cap, which has been replaced with an elegant silver chrome piece with AMG writing. The inside of the vehicle has also been upgraded.

Classic Red/Black leather trims the performance seats. The sensuous color palette continues further down in the interior, with black AMG floor mats and red-glowing AMG lettering on the door sill panels. The three-spoke steering wheel is finished in Dinamica microfiber and features a sporty 12 o'clock marker as well as Edition 55 badging.

The inside is further enhanced with contrast red stitching and brushed metal trim, both of which provide much-needed brightness. The equipment package, according to Mercedes-Benz, may be bought for an extra €12,614 (about $13,700), which is rather pricey. There's no news on whether it'll be available in the United States, but with the A-Class no longer on the market, it'll only be available on the CLA35 AMG.

The Edition 55 package, which starts at $48,950, would hypothetically raise the price to $62,650, which is a lot of money for a tiny sports sedan. In Europe, customers may choose between the A35 hatchback and the stunning CLA35 Shooting Brake.
